Pakistan Juniors and the Oman National Team went head-to-head in a 4-match friendly series hosted by Pakistan. It was Pakistan who emerged victorious, winning 3 out of 4 matches played in the series. This was an important series for both sides as they gear up for some international competitions ahead.

Matches in Lahore

The first two matches of the series were played in Lahore, Punjab at the National Hockey Stadium — the biggest hockey stadium in the world with a capacity of 45,000.

  • The first match of the series was the most exciting, where in a closely fought game, Pakistan finished victorious over Oman by 4 goals to 3.
Sufyan Khan, the elite drag flicker of the Pakistan team, was awarded Man of the Match courtesy of his hat-trick.

  • The second match was a comeback for the Oman National Team, as they defeated Pakistan 3-1 in another closely contested game.
Rashid El-Ferrari was declared Man of the Match.

Matches in Islamabad

The 3rd and 4th matches were played at the Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium, Islamabad.

  • In the third game, Pakistan came up with a strong performance and won the match with a healthy lead of 6-1.
Zikriya Hiyat was named Man of the Match.

Series Importance for Both Teams

The series holds great importance for both sides as many international tours await them.

  • For Oman, this series provided valuable experience before heading into the AHF Hockey Asia Cup, scheduled from 17th to 27th April in Indonesia, which serves as the qualifier for the Hockey Asia Cup 2025.
Playing against Pakistan in four games and having some training sessions in Pakistan helped them prepare for the big challenge ahead.

  • On the other hand, the Pakistan Juniors and Seniors both have several important tournaments this year.
A back-to-back series for the junior team — first against Germany and now against Oman — gives them much-needed international exposure, helping them train well for the upcoming Hockey Junior World Cup 2025, along with the Sultan of Johor Cup 2025, which will be held prior to the Junior World Cup.
