Pakistan Hockey Team to Play Tri-Nation Series in July

The Pakistani hockey team is set to participate in a Tri Nation Series in July, hosted by Egypt. The series will feature Pakistan, Egypt, and Croatia, with each team playing against the others twice. The top 2 teams after the preliminary round will play for the 1st position playoff.
The national camp for the Green Shirts has already begun, as they gear up their preparations for the Hockey Nations Cup as well. The Pakistani team will play the Nations Cup in June, followed by the Tri Nation Series.
“This training camp aims to enhance specific skills such as one-on-one and double defense, aerial ball control, and match-based circle strategies. We’re also focusing on physical conditioning, especially reaction time. More importantly, it’s about building team harmony, unity, and ensuring every player understands Pakistan’s tactical structure in both attack and defense. The environment here at Pakistan Ordnance Factory has been excellent for our goals.” — Head Coach Tahir Zaman.

Importance of Upcoming Tournaments
Both tournaments hold great importance as the Green Shirts are set to play for the Hockey Asia Cup 2025 in August, which is the qualifier for the Hockey World Cup 2026. On the other hand, the FIH Hockey Nations Cup 2025 also provides the winners with a spot in the Hockey Pro League 2025-26.
The Pakistani hockey team missed out on the last edition of the Hockey World Cup 2022, but this time the PHF federation and the players are determined to earn a spot in the upcoming World Cup 2026. The team will get valuable international match exposure in the upcoming months.
