FIH Hockey Nations Cup 2025 The 2024–25 Men’s FIH Hockey Nations Cup is an international field hockey tournament scheduled to take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from June 15 to 21, 2025. This event serves as a qualification opportunity for the 2025–26 FIH Hockey Pro League, offering the winning team a chance to compete in the elite league. Tournament Overview Host: Malaysia Dates: June 15–21, 2025 Venue: National Hockey Stadium, Kuala Lumpur Participating Teams 🇫🇷 France 🇯🇵 Japan 🇰🇷 South Korea 🇳🇿 New Zealand 🇵🇰 Pakistan 🇿🇦 South Africa 🏴 Wales 🇲🇾 Malaysia (Host) The Nations Cup is divided into two pools. Each team plays against every other team in their pool. The top two teams from each pool advance to the semifinals, leading to the final match that determines the champion. The winner of the tournament earns a spot in the 2025–26 FIH Hockey Pro League. Pool A 🇫🇷 France 🇰🇷 South Korea 🇿🇦 South Africa 🏴 Wales Pool B 🇯🇵 Japan 🇳🇿 New Zealand 🇵🇰 Pakistan 🇲🇾 Malaysia (Host) Team Profiles New Zealand New Zealand, ranked 12th in the world, won the 2023/24 FIH Hockey Nations Cup and earned a promotion to the 2024/2025 FIH Pro League. They have a history of competing in the Olympics and World Cups and are often considered an upsetter in such tournaments. The Nations Cup is crucial for New Zealand to maintain their global rankings and ensure they continue to play competitive hockey at the highest levels through a potential return to the Pro League. South Africa South Africa, ranked 11th in the world and the top team in Africa, finished 3rd place in the 2023/24 Nations Cup. Their dominance in continental competitions is well established, but breaking into the top international tier remains a challenge.
