The FIH Hockey Nations Cup 2025 is set to start on 15th June in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. A total of 20 matches will be played from 15th to 21st June. Eight teams will compete to secure a place in the FIH Pro League 2026 edition.

  • Japan

The teams have been divided into two pools of four teams each. The top two teams from each pool will qualify for the semi-finals, while the teams finishing 3rd and 4th in their pools will play crossovers for the 5th position. Each team will play three pool stage matches.

Qualification & Relegation:

The team finishing at the top and winning this edition of the FIH Nations Cup will secure a spot in the FIH Pro League 2026. Meanwhile, the team finishing at the bottom of the standings will be relegated to FIH Nations Cup 2, where they will have to compete with other top-ranked teams that have not qualified for either the FIH Pro League or the FIH Nations Cup. They will have to earn their spot back in the FIH Nations Cup next year.

Defending Champions:

New Zealand are the current champions of the FIH Nations Cup 2023-24 edition, where they defeated France in the final on penalty shootouts. They initially secured a spot in the FIH Pro League but later withdrew, allowing Ireland to take their place.

  • South Africa secured 3rd place by defeating Pakistan 4-3 in the bronze medal match.
