HOCKEY SULTAN AZLAN SHAH CUP

Sultan Azlan Shah Cup is an annual international men’s field hockey tournament held every year in Malaysia, primarily at the Azlan Shah Stadium in Ipoh or in Kuala Lumpur. The tournament began in 1983, initially held once every two years but becoming an annual event from 1998 onwards. Named after the ninth King of Malaysia, Sultan Azlan Shah, this competition is one of the most prestigious in men’s field hockey.

Inaugural Cup (1983)

Twenty-ninth Edition (2020)

The 29th edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup was scheduled to take place from 11 to 18 April 2020 in Ipoh, Malaysia. The tournament was postponed due to COVID-19. On 2 May 2020, the organizers officially cancelled the event.

Thirtieth Edition (2024)

The 30th edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup took place from 4 to 11 May 2024 in Ipoh, Malaysia. Six international teams participated. The winner of that season was Japan, and the runner-up team was Pakistan. Japan defeated Pakistan by penalty shootouts 3-1.
