Netherlands Defeat Austria 5-0 in Euro Hockey Championship 2025

The Netherlands claimed a dominant 5-0 win over Austria in the Euro Hockey Championship 2025 . Thierry Brinkman hit early , Koen Bijen netted a hat-trick , and Tjep Hoedemakers added one as the Dutch controlled possession from start to finish .

The match kicked off with a lightning start as Netherlands captain Thierry Brinkman opened the scoring in the first minute. Consequently, Austria struggled to settle in as the Dutch maintained most of the ball possession.

In the 9th minute, Jip Janssen received a green calling card, but Austria couldn’t capitalize. Netherlands earned a penalty corner in the 12th minute but failed to convert. The first quarter ended with Netherlands leading Austria 1-0.

The second quarter saw the Netherlands continue to dominate possession, controlling the tempo of the game. Additionally, in the 20th minute, Koen Bijen doubled their lead with a well-taken goal.

Despite earning a penalty corner in the 26th minute, the Dutch couldn’t add to their tally. The quarter ended with the Netherlands firmly in control, leading Austria 2-0.

The third quarter began with the Netherlands maintaining strong ball possession and control. Hence, In the 36th minute, Koen Bijen struck again to make it 3-0. Moments later, the Dutch team  got  back-to-back penalty corners but couldn’t convert either.

In the 42nd minute, Tjep Hoedemakers extended the lead further with a precise finish. Additionally, the quarter ended with the Netherlands cruising 4-0 over Austria.

The Netherlands dominated from start to finish, sealing a commanding 5-0 victory over Austria. Additionally, Thierry Brinkman opened the scoring in the first minute, followed by a brace from Koen Bijen and goals from Tjep Hoedemakers.

Koen Bijen scored again to complete his hat-trick. Austria struggled to create clear chances as the Dutch controlled possession throughout, securing a comfortable win.
