Pan American Games 2025 Men’s Hockey Day 1: Mexico and Chile Victorious

Nonetheless, Mexico edged out Canada in a thrilling contest, sealing the win with two decisive goals in the final quarter to claim a hard-fought 4-3 victory. Erick Francis opened the scoring for Mexico in the 3rd minute from a penalty corner, but Canada responded in the second quarter with goals from Leighton De Souza and Kale Simonson.

Therefore, Jesahel Cuate’s ten-strike ensured the sides go into halftime spirit level at 2-2. The third quarter saw no change to the scoreline, setting up a tense finale.

Josiah Campbell restored Canada’s lead early in the fourth, but Brandon Rodriguez equalized from a penalty street corner before Isidro Santillan hit the victor to ensure Mexico’s dramatic triumph.

Chile 4-1 Trinidad & Tobago

Chile secured a confident 4-1 win over Trinidad & Tobago, with Tomas Hasson leading the way with a brace. Moreover, Hasson opened the scoring in the 9th minute to give Chile an early lead, and he doubled his tally in the 36th minute after a quiet second quarter.

Nicholas Siu Butt pulled one back for Trinidad & Tobago just before the third-quarter whistle, setting up a competitive final period.

In the fourth quarter, Chile turned on the pressure  Gaspar Fosalba converted a penalty corner in the 48th minute of the arc, and Javier Getulio Dornelles Vargas sealed the victory with a late strike to round off an impressive performance.
