The 31st edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2025 is set to take place from 22nd to 29th November in Ipoh, Malaysia. Six teams from around the globe will compete for the title. The teams include:
- India
- Germany
- Canada
- Ireland
- Belgium
- Malaysia
Tournament Format
The tournament will be played in a round-robin format, meaning each team will compete against every other team in the tournament. This event holds great significance as it serves as preparation for the upcoming Hockey World Cup 2026.

The tournament will kick off with the following matches on Day 1:
- Ireland vs. Canada (Opening Match)
- India Vs Germany

History
Australia has been the most successful team at the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, winning the title 10 times.
India and Pakistan follow, with India winning 5 times and Pakistan 3 times.
Japan are the defending champions, having won the 2024 title against Pakistan in a dramatic penalty shootout.
The Sultan Azlan Shah Cup was first introduced in 1983 as a biennial tournament. However, due to its increasing popularity and growth, it became an annual event from 1998.
